Concetta "Connie" Monda Of Bridgeport Dies at 91

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Lifelong Bridgeport, Conn., resident Concetta "Connie" Monda died on June 8 at St. Vincent Medical Center at the age of 91.

Born in Bridgeport on Oct. 8, 1923 to the late Cesare and Lucia (Varchetti) Monda, the Central High School alum was an avid gardener and a longtime member of St. Margaret's Altar Guild. Monda served her country as a WAVE in WWII, and was a retired legal secretary.

Monda is survived by her sister, Lucy Martins of Bridgeport, with whom she resided; her nieces Rita Wargo and Elizabeth Fray of Bridgeport, Lucille Ceresa of Milford, Conn., and Patricia Hopkins; her nephews Anthony Marino and James Marino both of Milford, Robert and Jeff Monda and her sister-in-law Jessica Monda, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her sisters Fannie Monda, Katherine Marino and husband James, Rose Fray and husband William, and Filomena "Mamie" Monda; her brothers, Joseph and Salvatore Monda, her nephews John Martin Jr. and Christopher Monda and great nephews John and Christopher Marino.

A lover of animals, Monda also leaves behind her dog Buddy.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on June 12 at St. Margaret’s Shrine, 2523 Park Ave, Bridgeport, before entombment in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Chapel Mausoleum. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on June 11 at the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave, Bridgeport.
